Craps is played in two main phases whenever the Pass Line is in action: the Come-Out Roll and the Point Phase.
Phase 1: The Come-Out Roll
This is the first roll of a new round. The dealer will announce “coming out,” and players place their chips on the Pass Line (the curved line near the edge of the table).
Here’s what can happen:
7 or 11 → 🎉 You win immediately.
2, 3, or 12 → 💀 You lose immediately (this is called “crapping out”).
4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10 → That number becomes the point and moves the game to the next phase.

Phase 2: After the Point Is Set
If a point is established, the goal changes: now the shooter needs to roll that same number again before rolling a 7.

A Pass Line bet pays even money (1 to 1).

Once a point is set, you’re allowed to back up your Pass Line bet with Odds—an extra wager placed behind your chip.
Why bother?
Because Odds bets have zero house edge. They’re paid out at true odds (like 2:1 on the 4 or 10, 3:2 on the 5 or 9, 6:5 on the 6 or 8).
